Jim
McIntosh started footwear manufacturing in a shed beside
his house 12 years ago; now he makes shoes and boots for movie stars
and you can ask Jim to make them for you too.
His specialty is shoes for people with odd-shaped feet. He does a
lot of work for hospitals. His customers are all over NZ, and he also
has some in Australia and parts of Europe. “We’re probably the only
footwear factory in NZ specialising in special needs footwear. By
that I mean for feet that are wide, narrow, misshapen, recommended
by a doctor, or require shoes to be modified in some way.
“We make custom and surgical footwear for anyone. We’re the place
to go to solve anyone’s footwear problem. If you need men’s or women’s
shoes, boots or sandals, fashion or casual, we make them. They can
be bought off the shelf or custom-made.”
Jim McIntosh says to succeed in any business , especially a small
one, you need to take action when you see an opportunity, rather than
just talk about it. This is how he got into making footwear for feature
films.
